When you need off-grid survival gear, there are thousands of items you can buy...which kind of defeats the purpose of being mobile and “off-grid.” That’s why it’s important to start with the basics...
Paracord: While repairing the Hubble telescope might not be on your agenda, that’s really the point...paracord is ready for anything. It can work to repair your pack, secure a door, set animal traps, or help drag extra gear behind you. There’s really not much paracord can’t do when you need an all-purpose rope.
Flashlight: If you can’t see it, you can’t fix it. You might be able to find your paracord in your pack, but what are you going to do with it if it’s a moonless night? Having a flashlight lets you take the light with you, avoid cliffs, scare off animals, and do actual work when the rest of the light’s gone. If you can see it, you’ve got a better chance of repairing it!
Fire: You know, there’s a good reason that humans who mastered fire survived. When you’ve got fire you’ve got protection from the elements...the cold, the animals, and the bacteria that are in the animal you just killed for food. It’s also one of the best ways to call for rescue. When you can make fire, you increase your chances of survival.
So buy all the off-grid survival gear you need...just make sure you start off with the ones most likely to actually save your life. Check it out here.
